Install Codex Dream Skin on macOS

Install Dream Skin first. Once it starts correctly, choose and switch themes separately.

Part 1 · Install the tool

Install Dream Skin for macOS.

The official installer is the simplest option. macOS uses the Node.js copy included with Codex.

  1. 01Download and unzip

Click the green Download official macOS ZIP button above, then open Codex-Dream-Skin-main/macos.

  2. 02Quit Codex

Read the remaining steps, then quit Codex completely. Continue from Finder without reopening this page in Codex.

  3. 03Open the installer

Double-click Install Codex Dream Skin.command. If macOS says Apple cannot verify it, click Done, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, then click Open Anyway.

    Alternative: install in Terminal

Choose either the installer or Terminal, not both. Use these two lines only if you cannot run the installer.

    cd ~/Downloads/Codex-Dream-Skin-main/macos
    ./scripts/install-dream-skin-macos.sh --no-launch
  4. 04Check the result

The installer starts themed Codex. If it does not start, double-click Start Codex Dream Skin.command in the extracted macos folder.

Part 2 · Add a theme

Add a theme after installation.

First confirm that Dream Skin starts correctly, then follow the theme guide for this system.
